Most of us would like to be smarter than we are, stronger than we are, richer than we are, but we don't feel all that comfortable with people who are.- Mickey Manfield // Be what you would seem to be - or, if you'd like it put more simply - Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.- Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland

--> Everyone who has intelligence has ideas. Within every waking hour of our day we are surrounded with fresh information that gives us awareness to our very being and to our surroundings. - We strive and reach out; making or trying to make our existance comfortable and pleasureable. - This must be the goal of Mankind, our wanting to get back into that lost Garden of Eden. - And through INVENTION we will!

-- "A man and his wife are sitting in the living room and he says to her, "Just so you know it, I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine. If that ever happens, just pull the plug." -- "OK," says his wife as she gets up and unplugs the TV.

Thought of the day:

--
"You have to find something that you love enough to be able to take risks, jump over the hurdles and break through the brick walls that are always going to be placed in front of you. If you don't have that kind of feeling for what it is you are doing, you'll stop at the first giant hurdle."

Today's Lecture: There are six senses that you should be aware of:
1. Seeing 2. Hearing 3. Smelling 4. Tasting 5. Touching --- and the one not listed on other lists that I list as
#6. "Appearance or Appearing."

Quote: "Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise.- Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland"

Axiom: What others will see of you is what you show them or allow them to see, or they will find out from outside sources. Make them think that they have seen your best side.

Child Care: Every child, between the ages of eight and twenty-nine years, may have thought that he or she was smarter than his or her parents.. Just ask one of them. - Or, remember back.. and think about this statement from your own experiences. - By thirty years of age, there's that instant adulthood somehow we all must attain. [Yet] as a matter in fact, you still may not be smarter than a 5th Grader.. One day, you may look back and think about what I've just said and smile and ask yourself this universal question, "Where did all those years of missed opportunity go?" ;-) R.S. 07/07/2008
Child Care Description: -- Unless he or she is a new budding inventor, we would prefer not to be distubed by children's restlessness.

-- I'm sure the library would be really interesting for your young children's nascent reading pleasure. Get them to come with you and expand their limited knowledge. Let them study peacefully in the library while you attend our meeting. Thank you.

"A mind is a terrible thing to waste."

[By the way, I talked to an inquring science-fiction author who wanted to become a part of our membership. -- He thought that he was way ahead in ideas for the near-future and he could inject those thoughts for our inventions. - An idea he had was an atomic-engine-propelled-train. Duh..]

Certificates/Licenses: -- By reading this IASL website, you may come to reallize that you may not have to have a utility patent to market your invention. There are other ways to protect Intellectual Property and all you basically need to remember is not to infringe upon a live patent. What is live? -- Do Your Patent Searches on the Internet and In the Library. Search the Prior Art -- -- "Profit From Your Idea: How to Make Smart Licensing Deals by Attorney Richard Stim" --

-- Shhhh - Keep this very confidential (Top Secret). If it ever gets out they'd have to kill you. It's your keys to the Treasury at Fort Knox.

-- By reading all the contents of our IASL's website you'll have a living chance to find the *sine qua non of many prior successful inventors. -- In other words: -- If you don't understand what you have just read, then you'll just end up being a loser? --

-- Use your dictionary to help you succeed. -- *sine qua non - an essential condition or element, an indespensable thing.

The Inventors Association of St. Louis invites you to join. -- Your twelve-month new membership is $55.00, with renewal at $35.00 per year thereafter. This will keep you focused on inventing and you will be justifiably proud to be called "Inventor"!

-- Thought of this day:
"It is easy to sit up and take notice. What is difficult is getting up and taking action.

Additional Notes: -- -- I am proud to inform you that in 1995, your IASL helped in passing new legislation that was drafted into Missouri Law Books. These notably defended the rights of 'misinformed' inventors who were losing their hard-earned money to scamming "idea developers." --

Allow me several moments to quote a statement from this law: -- Mo 417.400 to 417.436

-- An invention developer must furnish you this statement in writing, for you to consider during your seven days 'cooling off period':

-- "Any contract for invention development services between you and ourselves is regulated by law. We are not qualified or permitted to advise you whether protection of your invention is available under the patent laws of the United States or any other laws. If your invention is patentable or infringes an existing valid patent, your failure to inquire into these matters may effect your rights to your invention or make you liable to others for patent infringement. Furthermore, disclosures of your invention to others on a new confidentual basis may also adversely affect your rights. We urge you to seek the counsel of an attorney or agent registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office." (L. 1995 S.B. 80 & 88

-- The location for the IASL Meetings was particularely chosen because of its known convenience of central location. -- Parking is perfect--right at the entrance door. -- Clean and comfortable seating. We will try to make your stay worthwhile.

-- View the Aerial Map of 1640 S. Lindbergh. Our TerraServer Image Courtesy of the USGS. - This picture shows many things not observable on the above Mapquest Map: We are able to view the wall down the middle of Lindbergh that makes a left turn into the Library a little tricky. We can see that you do not have to use the North entrance to park on the North side of the building. We can see that if someone is traveling North on Lindbergh, and misses the entrance at the traffic light, they can go in at the other entrance.  We could point out the handicapped parking parallel to the front of the building, with the ramp North of there to the accessible entrance that leads to the meeting rooms.

You will find explicit driving directions on our HOME PAGE
