Resource Description: -- --> Right here in St. Louis as well as in Springfield, Illinois, are Patent Libraries licensed by the United States Patent and Trademark Office to allow inventors, innovators, and idea people to keep current and have a direct link to the USPTO, United States Patent and Trademark Office, for their patent and trademark research.

-- Carol Giles-Straight, formerly spent 15-months at the USPTO and can aid you in researching the over 7.2-million patents now on file. She will explain to you the process but will not do the work for you or provide legal advice.

-- Knowing this "Prior Art" will extend your knowledge. The knowledge of who you will be competing against; their product secrets, their "Claims," their weaknesses, where they are located, and maybe finding out that what you thought was "your greatest invention of this age" has already been invented? If that is the case, contact those inventors and buy or license the invention from them. -- They are protected by their Issued, United States Utility Patent for a possible term of 17 or more years.

-- Do the Research @ --> USPTO -- click-on the locater "Site Overview - New Users" to the "Inventor Resources." -- Or more directly by using: --> Inventor Resources

-- Also go to an introduction to patent searching for the novice researcher; McKinney Engineering Library Patent Researching Guide @ --> Patent Tutorial

Open Hours: -- Monday 10-9 * Tuesday - Friday 10-6 * Saturday 9-5 * Closed Sundays and Holidays -- Call 314-539-0390 for personal assistance -- ask for Carol Giles-Straight.

Volunteer Opportunities: -- -- Spend some of your valuable time
in the Business, Science and Technology Department. Expand your learning ability. Consider that you are earning $150.00 an hour or more by doing your own research, over what you would pay a researcher to do it for you. Your unprofessionable and short research is only done preliminary and should be preceded by a thorough research by later legal experts.
Volunteer Description: -- "And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you -- ask what you can do for your country." - John F. Kennedy,
Inaugural Address (Jan 20, 1961)

-- "We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give."
-- Sir Winston Churchill - quoted by
Former President, Ronald Reagan

-- "If you don't strive for the best, you will never make it." -- Gerald R. Ford, President

-- "The ideal life is in our blood and never will be still. Sad will be the day for any man when he becomes contented with the thoughts he is thinking and the deeds he is doing -- where there is not forever beating at the doors of his soul some great desire to do something larger, which he knows that he was meant and made to do." -- Phillips Brooks
